Frequently Asked Questions
Q: If I wanted to pursue a consulting engagement with NYAHSA, what are the steps?

A: The steps are as follows:

  • Contact the NYAHSA office and request to speak with one of the nursing facility policy staff members. Together, the nature of the engagement and the estimated length of time required will be discussed and reviewed.
  • NYAHSA will send to you a proposal letter and contract reflecting discussion from step one.
  • The client then signs the contract and returns it to NYAHSA offices.
  • NYAHSA will co-sign the contract and return a copy to you.
  • NYAHSA consultants will provide services on day and time per contract.
  • Once the engagement is completed, NYAHSA will submit a bill based on actual hours used by the consultant(s) in addition to out-of-pocket expenses such as food, travel expenses, and lodging.

Q: After I contact NYAHSA to request consulting services, how quickly can I expect a consultant on site?

A: The consultant(s) are very responsive to your concerns. Especially in situations such as IJ’s and survey issues, the consultants are usually on site the day of or the day following the member request.

Q: How are consultants selected for a particular assignment?

A: ProCareSM assigns consultants based primarily on the specific needs of the customer and related skills of the consultant(s). In addition, assignments are based on the location of the engagement to the proximity of the consultant’s home to minimize cost.

Q: Do I have to pay for the travel time of the consultants?

A: Unlike many consulting services, ProCareSM does not charge the client for the consultant’s travel time. ProCareSM bills only for the time actually utilized delivery services to client plus out-of-pocket expenses.

Q: How will I be advised of the findings of the consultants?

A: ProCareSM consultants provide ongoing feedback and impromptu education to staff throughout the engagement. We conduct a face-to-face review of our findings (an exit conference) and provide recommendations that are useful, practical, and tailored to your facility.

Q: Does ProCareSM provide a written report of its findings?

A: At the end of the consulting engagement, ProCareSM consultants provide the client with a copy of hand-written notes and recommendations for your consideration. You may also request a formal written report for an additional fee which will be prepared and sent to you in a timely manner.

Q: What if I have questions about the findings after the consulting engagement is completed?

A: ProCareSM consultants are available via e-mail and phone to offer clarification and ongoing support.
