Unemployment Services Trust

The Unemployment Services Trust is a grantor trust created, managed, and owned by its member non-profit agencies. Its sole purpose is to lower unemployment costs for its members.

A federal law passed in 1972 allows 501(c)(3)s to opt out of the state unemployment tax system and agree, through the trust, to directly reimburse the state only for the claims of their past employees. By joining the trust, your facility can save 30 to 50 percent on its unemployment costs, with 50 percent savings guaranteed in the first two years to most facilities. Even if you are already self-insured, we can still help lower your unemployment costs.

The Unemployment Services Trust is part of the AAHSA Group Purchasing Program. It was established in 1983, and currently has 2,000-plus member agencies covering 180,000 employees nationwide.
