Having Problems Signing On / Authorization Messages
If a user attempts to sign on, and receives the following error message: The combination of user id, password, and web site access is not valid, the following steps should be taken to fix the problem:
- Make sure that the username and password were entered correctly.
- Use the Contact Us link to contact NYAHSA's Member Services, to verify your username and password.
- Use the Clear button to clear out any incorrect or saved password.
- Contact your IT Department to make sure that cookies are not blocked by security measures. (firewalls, etc.)
- If your username and password are correct, and you are still receiving an error, it may be necessary to delete the NYAHSA cookie from your computer. This may need to be performed by someone who has Administrative rights on your computer, or a member of your IT Department:
- In Mozilla Firefox, go to Tools / Options. On the Privacy section, click Show Cookies... On the site list, navigate to nyahsa.org. Click Remove Cookies.
- In Internet Explorer, go to Tools / Internet Options. On the General Tab, under Browsing history, click Settings. On the Temporary Internet Files and History Settings window, click View Files. Navigate to the cookie that has an Internet Address of Cookie:[username]@www.nyahsa.org. Remove that cookie by using the Delete key.
- Try to re-enter the username and password.
Similar steps can be performed if a user encounters a Document Authorization Notice message. This usually means that the user is attempting to read a Member document without being signed on. If you enter your username and password, you should be forwarded to the document. If you still have problems, please follow the steps listed above.
